Skinos Beach

Skinos beach is in the 114th place out of 477 beaches in the Region of Crete region 115 km away from its center, the city of Kastelli. It is one of the beaches of Plakias settlement, just 0.5 km from its center. The beach is located in an urban area with very picturesque views, among the mountains. It is partially covered by trees which give natural shade.

It is a spacious coastline with crystal turquoise water and light fine pebble, so it is recommended to wear special shoes. The sharpness of entering the water is quite normal. This beach is suitable for different categories of people, lonely travellers, relaxation getaway lovers etc. It is partially crowded during the high season. Please note that the area nearby is possible for wild camping.

Skinos beach coast is free for all. This beach has the following amenities, loungers and umbrellas, beach restaurant. .

In addition to swimming and sunbathing, you can also take part in other activities, snorkeling.

This beach is easily accessible, it is located very close to road. Parking is located directly on the beach.

Foteinari Beach

Fotinari (or Foteinari) is situated 37km south of Rethymno, between Plakias and Souda beach.

This picturesque bay is home to two serene, unspoiled beaches. The rocky sea bed of this area makes it ideal for fishing and snorkeling. Unorganized, these two pebbly beaches are still close enough to restaurants and accommodations.

The first beach, Small Fotinari or Fotinaraki, is the smaller of the two and can be accessed from the main road. There is a short stone path that crosses two small wooded areas leading to it. In Big Fotinari, visitors can take refuge from the sun under the shade of the surrounding tall rocks.

Souda Beach, Plakias

Souda is located 41km southwest of Rethymno city, just 3km east of the resort of Plakias.

It is actually the last beach of the beachfront of Plakias, called Yialia, which starts at Shinaria, several kilometers away. Souda is located at the exit of a small green valley that is run by the small river Finikas, which has water all year round.

Along the river and in several places of the area, there are colonies of the native Cretan palm trees of Theophrastus, making Souda one of the most important reserves for the species.

There are umbrellas and showers, while the area has several taverns and rooms. The beach sides are rocky, being ideal for fishing and snorkeling. Above the rocks of the east side, on the main road, there are several benches overlooking the South Cretan Sea.
